World Wide Web Personal Home Page Policies
The Department of Anesthesiology recognizes that the World Wide Web (WWW) is a tremendous resource to promote the dissemination of information related to our department at the University of Florida, including its faculty and educational programs, as well as to obtain information from Web sites all over the world.
Toward this end the Department of Anesthesiology maintains a WWW server which provides global access to information services.
In addition to the departmental Web pages, individual users may create and post their own home pages provided the user:
- • does not violate any state or federal laws;
- • does not violate the official policies, licenses, contracts, and regulations of the University of Florida;
- • assures that the provided information is accurate, current, and appropriate for on-line use;
- • includes no copyrighted text, images, or other material without obtaining proper written permission;
- • does not publish obscene, offensive, racist, harassing, or threatening materials;
- • does not use the Web for private financial gain or to engage in any illegal activity;
- • does not provide computer or other resources to persons not eligible for this service;
- • does not make information available that can be interpreted as being departmental business without prior approval by the chairman or one of his/her designees.
We regard violation of this policy a serious offense. Upon violation, the users account will be revoked immediately and access to their Web pages will be eliminated, and the matter will be referred to the appropriate University authority.
In addition, the users should be aware of the following stipulations:
- Only full time or part-time employees of the Department of Anesthesiology are eligible for this service.
- A disk quota will be maintained to limit the space allotted to the user.
- The granted account is only to be used for Web-based documents.
- All users pages will contain the name and E-mail address of the person responsible for the Web page content.
- When the user's Web pages disrupt the Web server's normal ability to serve other user's documents, other tasks assigned to the server, or interactive user's response times, the user's Web pages will be blocked.
- The user is expected to learn enough HTML and Web principles to write and support their own Web pages. The computer support team will not write the pages, nor assist with elementary HTML commands.
