Overnight Mail

General Guidelines: The use of priority mail such as Federal Express or U.S. Postal Express Mail requires that a justification be sent to the Chairman’s Office for review prior to the item being sent. For economic reasons, these services should be used ONLY when absolutely necessary and only for official department business.

Procedures for Using Federal Express: The department’s Federal Express account number is preprinted on the airbill. A supply of airbills is maintained in the mailroom. When calling the Federal Express automated dispatcher for pick-up, use this number to receive the University’s discounted rate. The pick-up slot is located on the mailroom closet door. Please call for pick-up at least 2 hours in advance. There is also a drop box in the Health Science Center lobby; no phone call is necessary if the drop box is used.

Procedures for using U.S. Postal Service Express Mail: Please complete the mailing label and put your letter in the mail room with a note to the mail clerk to deliver it to the Health Center Post Office. Please note that all Express Mail must be in the Health Center Post Office by 3:00 p.m., but the mail clerk makes his Post Office run at 1:00 p.m.
