Department Patents
The creativity of the departmental faculty extends beyond traditional medical research to creation of cutting edge ideas as evidenced by the generation of intellectual property. Novel ideas are submitted to the University of Florida Office of Technology Licensing who may decide to prosecute patent applications domestically in the United States Patent and Trademark Office and internationally through the World Intellectual Property Organization. Although the faculty are the inventors of these technologies, the owner is the University of Florida. Once licensed to outside private companies, these ideas are further developed and ultimately refined to a consumable product. The following list describes the inventors and titles of patents successfully awarded.
