Vacations
=========
For the week of June 9, Hans has volunteered to run science at
the Alachua District Cub Scout Day Camp and thus will be out of
the office for the whole week. For IT support, please call
494-8203, or email
support@anest.ufl.edu
Sending your support request via email
======================================
When you send your support request via email to
support@anest.ufl.edu or ListCompSupport, it will also be
received as a text message on our support phone. So if you keep
the message brief and to the point that would be very helpful.
Do not give out your email password
===================================
There are a lot of messages floating around trying to get you to
respond with your email username and password. Several of those
messages look real, and some seem to come from official @ufl.edu
addresses. Please know that it is real easy to fake an email
From: address, and those messages are from spammers or worst and
they want to try to take over your email account.
There is never a need to give anybody any password. All real IT
people can reset passwords with the proper authority, and there
is never a need to give out your password.
Home tip
========
Did you know that you can access all the journals and other
resources the university subscribes to electronically from home
as well? You will need to install the Cisco VPN software, and
whenever you want to access those resources, you will need to
start the VPN and login with your gatorlink login. This will
virtually put your home computer on the UF network.
You can download the VPN software for free here:
