READ THE NEWSLETTER!

====================

Please make sure you read this and future newsletters.  We try to put important, timely information in here.  If you did not read Kayser's message from Friday, please do.  It shows the implications user's actions can have.

New wireless networking in the HSC

==================================

There currently is a new wireless network in the HSC (not Shands), and the old one is going away on July 31.  Here is a summary:

Going away: Healthnet

New: hnet-public (for casual use, no need to register your computer, just connect and enter your gatorlink on the web).

New: hnet-secure (required if you have access to PHI or other restricted information.  If you are currently on Healthnet, you should use this).

To connect to hnet-secure, add it manually (the name is not broadcast), select WPA2 enterprise for security and enter your gatorlink username and password.

Contact the IT support mailing list or cell phone if you need help.

Gatorlink password changes

==========================

Your Gatorlink password expires every 3-6 months (depending on your access level).  To change it, login to https://my.ufl.edu and select My Account, then click on the 'Change My Password' link.  After you do this, please reboot your computer and login using your new password.

Before your gatorlink password expires, you will get DAILY emails starting 14 days before expiration.  To make sure you get them, go to https://my.ufledu and click 'Modify My UF Business Email' and 'Set Gatorlink Email Forwarding'.  Make sure both are set to your official anesthesia address (first letter of firstname, lastname @anest.ufl.edu (AAlligator@anest.ufl.edu)

Home tip

========

Do you use a wireless network at home?  Do you know if it is secure?  If you answer No, it probably is not.  To make sure others do not use your wireless connection, make sure you password protect it.  Check the manual or website of your wireless access point manufacturer.  More information on http://www.secureflorida.org/
