How to Filter Out Spam with Groupwise

Our Internet mail gateway is marking suspected spam messages by inserting the text {Spam?} at the beginning of the subject line. Marking messages as spam is somewhat of an art and will not be perfect. Some spam messages will not be marked as such, and some regular messages will be marked as spam. We have optimized the settings to minimize the false positives.

How to create a rule to filter suspected spam messages

First create a new folder that will receive the spam messages so you can quickly scan them and delete them manually. This way you will not loose any mail.

  • Right click on your name at the top of the folder list, select New folder
  • (Personal folder, name it spam, accept all the defaults)

Secondly, create the rule. In Groupwise select Tools/Rules from the menu

Click the New… button

Then Actions are: Move to folder, select the spam folder, click save.
