Groupwise Tips

Question: How can I access GroupWise e-mail?

Answer: GroupWise e-mail can be accessed using:

1. the GroupWise client.
2. web access.
3. pop3 or imap.

The GroupWise client is what we have installed on the departmental computers. This offers the greatest capability and is the most versatile. Installation CDs are available for installing this software on home computers (windows operating systems). In that we do not have the support folks to maintain everyone's computer this will have to be on a use at your own risk bases.

Web access is available via web browser at the URL http://webmail.anest.ufl.edu . Use your GroupWise username and password (remember the password is case sensitive) to login. This will give you secure access to your GroupWise mail from most web browsers connected to the internet. I find the web access to be more difficult and slower than when using the client software. However, it allows me access to my mail when away especially if I have to stop at a public library.

Pop3 and IMAP access are also available but only when accessed from the University network or via VPN. Because of security issues we have limited pop3 and imap access to the local university network.
