Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems

One can define artificial intelligence as the ability of the computer-based system to imitate human actions or skills such as problem solving, decision making, learning, reasoning, and self-improvement. Expert systems mimic the decision-making processes of human experts. Many of these systems already exist and assist the physician in the clinical decision making process. We predict that many more of these systems will be used in medical applications in the upcoming years.
