Output devices convey information from the computer to the user. These devices include the familiar video display terminal (also called a cathode ray tube or CRT), plotter, and printer. Increasingly, audio output devices are becoming popular, particularly those with voice output. The combination of RAM and ROM components, input and output devices (e.g., keyboard and CRT), and data storage device (e.g., hard or floppy disk) can be identified in all general purpose computer systems, such as the PC. But this hardware is rendered useless without the means to control what this hardware will do for us.
